Applications now open: 2018 - 2019 Obstetric Anaesthesia Fellowships at the UMCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Applications are invited for two fellowship positions in 2018/2019 at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Kuala Lumpur. The duration of each fellowship is 6 months, with the first fellowship expected to commence on 1st October 2018, and the second on 1st April 2019.
UMMC is a 1000-bed general hospital with a special obstetric and paediatric wing for the management of obstetric and paediatric cases. Being a premier teaching and referral hospital in the heart of the country, approximately 6000 babies are delivered annually with a caesarean section rate of about 20-25%. We offer a 24-hour epidural service and manage high-risk patients collaboratively with other supporting departments/units. We cater to the special needs of patients and are increasingly using ultrasound to assist with the insertion of regional analgesia and anaesthesia for selected patients. UMMC also offers obstetric anaesthesia training for post-graduate students in the Malaysian Master of Anaesthesiology Training Programme.
The WFSA Fellowship is intended for anaesthesiologists working in low resource settings, who wish to develop knowledge and skills in the field of obstetric anaesthesia. Successful applicants must agree to return to their home country at the completion of the fellowship. Priority will be given to applicants aged less than 40 from Asian member countries, but older applicants and applicants from other regions will also be considered.
The fellowship offers funding for tuition costs, accommodation and subsistence living expenses. For more information, please contact the programme head, Professor YK Chan (email@example.com)
