What training is offered?
Specialist training in obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia, normal to high risk cases as this is a referral teaching centre associated with a primer medical school with post graduate training in all disciplines. Also provided is regional analgesia for labor. Ultrasound guided technique for regional anaesthesia limited to the central neural blockade is also being taught. The fellow will also be “directed” to attend any obstetric anaesthesia or analgesia related workshop conducted in the hospital or in the country if this is conducted during their tenure with the unit
How is training assessed?
The trainee will be graded according to his/her knowledge of the subject of obstetric anaesthesia and analgesia, skills with regionals, skills with general anaesthesia, skills with ultrasound, decision making especially with high risk patients.
Are there any specific admission criteria for applicants?
The language for communication will have to be English but it is alright to have those who are able to speak Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Indonesia.
