What training is offered?
The applicant would be involved in all the activities carried out in the maternal and perinatal Department of Clinica Universitaria Bolivariana. This department has an average of 7000 births per year; 75 % are high risk obstetric cases; the rate of neuroaxial analgesia for labor is around 90% and caesarean section rate is around 40%. The Service is managed in an interdisciplinary humanistic way with maternal fetal medicine specialist, obstetricians, nurses and intensive care support for mother and babies.There are also neonatal surgeries and fetal therapy (open surgery and minimally invasive procedures).
How is training assessed?
The assessment will include a pre-test to evaluate theoretical, technical and non-technical skills. An oral and written exam and evaluation of standard skills in obstetric anaesthesia procedures will also be administered at the end of the fellowship.
Are there any specific admission criteria for applicants?
Applicant must be a graduated Latin-American anaesthesiologist, ideally working in a Public Hospital and involved in Obstetric anaesthesia education. Priority will be given to applicants from countries with higher maternal mortality rates.
